Rev. Willie Blue
1939-2022
SNCC Veteran the Reverend Willie Blue died at his home in Hernando, Mississippi on December 28, 2022 at the age of 83. Born in Mississippi, and a Navy veteran, Rev. Blue became a SNCC Field Secretary in 1963 and was one of the founders of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. He worked with SNCC in voter registration, and served as an MFDP delegate to the National Democratic Convention Challenge in Atlantic City, NJ in August 1964. He was an active member, and the Chaplain, of the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.
