4 LESSONS LEARNED FROM EDUCATION

1. Just as reading and writing were essential for success in an industrial economy, math literacy is essential for an information economy.
2. In order to achieve success for a critical mass of Americans, there will a need to be a focus on providing math literacy to the bottom quartile.
3. The objective of the education program has to be to get the students to learn and communicate/challenge each other about the materials.
4. After the establishment of what to teach and how to teach it strategies and tactics have to be developed to incorporate the new approaches to math literacy in school systems.
